Another questionnaire. I kind of like these things. This time, the theme is Home. Appropriate since I've been spending so much time here lately. I've got a bit of cabin fever. I got this quiz from my friend on her myspace page. As usual, I will use the questions as searches for new art here on DA to feature in this journal.

1 ~ When you walk in your front door, which room do you enter?
THE room. The kitchen and living room are pretty much one small square and that’s it.

(Interesting, I did a search on “entryway” and this is one of the pictures that came up. Although it is not at all what I was going for I thought I’d put it in here because that’s me and Angie, who is the one I got this questionnaire from. )

2 ~ Do you have a dishwasher?
Yes, my two hands. (But it doesn’t work very well.)

3 ~ Is your living room carpeted or do you have hardwood floors?

My carpet doesn’t look nearly this cool. But this came up under the search and I liked it so here you go.

4 ~ Do you keep your knives on the kitchen counter or in the drawer?
On a small table between the kitchen and living room.

OK, so these aren’t exactly kitchen knives but this is such a fun display. A very cool way to present the collection.

5 ~ House, apartment, duplex or trailer?
Apartment

A search for apartment didn’t bring up anything that struck me. Then I searched “live” and this was the first one. Perfect! My place isn’t much bigger than this.

6 ~ How many bedrooms do you have?
Two

This was a really hard one. I saw lots of lovely bedrooms but nothing that struck me as something that I felt would represent what I wanted. This is nice and focused, leaving the mind to imagine all sorts of rooms it could be in.

7 ~ Gas stove or electric?
Electric

I think a gas stove would be wonderful but they kind of scare me. These coils are familiar.

8 ~ Do you have a yard?
No, I look out over a parking lot. But when I sit on my couch I can see trees in the distance so I pretend it overlooks something prettier.

My lot doesn’t have any old fashioned lights like this, and the trees are further away, but I thought this was a lovely painting.

9 ~ What size T.V. do you have in your living room?
19” LCD TV

Yeah, it’s a little one.

10 ~ Are your plates in the same cupboards as your cups?
Yup

There are not mice or cats or ghosts (that I know of) in my cupboards. I think the idea of ghost mice is pretty nifty though.

11 ~ Is there a coffee maker sitting on your kitchen counter?
Of course

I think this looks a little like a bong, quite original, and apparently very effective.

12 ~ What room is your computer in?
The library (aka the second bedroom) I live in a hole, but I have a library. I’m happy.

This looks kind of like my grandparents’ house, and I imagine mine someday if I ever own one.

13 ~ Are there pictures hanging on your living room wall?
Yes, an Animalia print, a Van Gogh, and some Asian silk paintings and prints.

I really want to go to Amsterdam just so I can go there. Someday…

14 ~ Are there any themes found in your house?
Bedroom: Asian landscapes. I’d actually like to have a completely Asian bedroom with sparse furnishings and simple decorations but I sadly need to use the space for my clothes and some other junk. The rest of the place: Modern Eclectic (as my Grandma calls it)

15 ~ What kind of laundry detergent do you use?
Purex

The purex bottles I use are considerably more plastic and would not inspire much in the way of beauty… other than helping make clean clothes on me.

16 ~ Do you use dryer sheets?
Yes

17 ~ Do you have any curtains in your house?
Yes, but one is hanging on the wall in the library and the other is tied to the blinds in the bedroom to pull over the open window in summer. So they’re not really serving as curtains.

Thought I’d toss one of my own in there for good measure.

19 ~ Is your house clean?
Sort of. It has been dusted recently, and keeping the kitchen floor clean with all the sand from outside is a constant struggle. Very cluttered though.

Yup, that’s about right.

20 ~ What room is the most neglected?
The library, though I have just recently taken a stab at it and made progress on cleaning the two desks to where I work and so I can set up a little photography area. I guess it is only neglected in that it is so messy. It is my most loved room.

This is interesting because I think this is almost exactly what this room of mine would look like were it empty and truly neglected.

21 ~ Are the dishes in your sink/dishwasher clean or dirty?

Funny story about that… in college I had a suite in the dorm that had a bathtub, but no kitchen. I cooked in my room all the time and I did my dishes in the bathtub.

22 ~ How long have you lived in your home?
Almost 2 years

Too cute not to show. My scale doesn’t have one of those fuzzy covers either.

26 ~ How many mirrors are in your house?
2, one is over the kitchen sink which I thought was kind of weird when I moved in but I’ve grown accustomed to it and kind of like the space it creates.

Snow through the window
Out of principle and seeing entirely too much snow lately, I am boycotting a picture on this one.

28 ~ Do you have a garage?
Yes, with a broken door at the moment, very ghetto

Nice and creepy.

30 ~ Do you get along with your neighbors?
Yes, they are all pretty cool. The guy next door sings along with his TV and laughs all the time which cracks me up. The guy on the other side I’ve known for years and am friends with his whole family. The woman across the hall is quiet and very nice.

I’ve heard this is a good movie. Perhaps I’ll watch it someday.
